Washer & Dryer Repair Service Lake Stevens

Your washer and dryer are major contributors to your daily life. You probably don’t think about how great it is to have clean clothes until you have a pile of dirty laundry. So, you jam a bunch of clothes in the washer, pour in the soap, push the button, and hear a weird sound. Then, it sort of runs through a cycle, and you get a strange feeling in your gut. You open the washer and realize that your clothes are still dirty. Your whole day has changed as soon as you realize that your washer or dryer isn’t working.

Clothes washers and dryers can be expensive to repair and replace, but not all of the time. Before you take out a loan to replace them or call your counselor for the enormous amount of stress you are about to experience, you should probably take a deep breath and call Appliance Mechanics.

You don’t have to replace your washer or dryer because they are not working. Washing machines and dryers need maintenance, and if many years have passed since being purchased, then it’s a good bet that a component inside the machinery needs replacing. Therefore, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a new part.

What’s most important is that you find a trustworthy, local major appliance mechanic with over 45 + years of combined experience to help you out.

Don't Panic. Call the Appliance Mechanics!

Appliance Mechanics is a Lake Stevens company that offers quality, certified repair for major appliances in the Snohomish area including Monroe, Marysville, Everett, Mill Creek, Mukilteo, and more.

What’s wrong with my washer?

A washer will let you know when it is having symptoms. Usually, it will let you know sooner than later. That way, you can get it fixed before replacing it. If you pay attention to it and call us first, you’ll pay a lot less than you would if you ignore it.

We suggest that you call us because we may be able to help you over the phone or with a fairly quick visit. If you’d rather save money by fixing your washer yourself, it can be dangerous. You could flood your home or hurt yourself. If you do not have plumbing or mechanical experience, please be safe and call Appliance Mechanics.

Symptoms of a failing washer

  • The washer doesn’t fill.

Possible problems include a lid that isn’t fully closed or a clog in the drain, hose, or water valve.

  • The Washer is Making a Clunking or Vibrating Sound.

If your washer makes clunking noises, you may have too many clothes on one side and not enough on the other. Try adjusting the load to even it out. If that doesn’t work, the bearings could need resealing or replacing. Old bearings will produce a vibrating sound due to worn seals.

  • The Washer is Moving Slow or Won’t Spin.

If you overload your washing machine, it will take longer to complete the cycle. If you reduce the amount of clothing in the washer, it could remedy the problem. However, if your washer has been working too hard or if it is old and worn out, the motor coupler may need to be replaced.

  • The Washer Quits During Mid-Cycle.

A washing machine won’t start if the cold water inlet valve is defective or if the timer isn’t working. The washers rinse in a cold water cycle, but they won’t fill the machine unless the valves work correctly. If these valves aren’t working, you’ll have to wait until the cold water rinse dispenses.

  • The Washer is Leaking Water.

Leaking water during a wash indicates a possible leak in the hose clamp or the drain pump. Both of these items are replaceable.

  • The Water will not drain.

If there is something stuck in your washer’s drain pipe, hose, or pump, then you should clean out the area. Wadded-up material from clothing and items left in pockets lodge into the drain pipe and cause damage to the pump.

What’s wrong with my dryer?

Symptoms of a failing dryer

  • The dryer won’t start.

When an appliance isn’t starting, it means that power isn’t getting to it. A blown fuse, a faulty start switch, or a broken power supply line can cause this problem. An overfilled lint screen can also be the reason for your dryer’s refusal to heat up.

  • Odd noises are coming from the dryer.

If you hear rattling noises coming from your dryer when it’s running, there might be a problem with its drum rollers or bearings. You’ll need to take the dryer apart and replace these components. A foreign object might have gotten stuck in the drum.

  • The dryer won’t heat.

If the dryer’s thermal fuse has blown, it is easy to replace. Lint build-up can keep a dryer from heating properly. A clogged dryer may be too heavy and will not dry your clothes.

  • Clothes are still wet after the drying cycle.

If clothes are still wet after the drying cycle, the heating coils could be at fault. It is possible that the coils are being pulled too hard by excess heat or that they are dirty from lint and other debris. The vents can also become clogged over time and make it hard for the heat to escape.

"Oliver is a true professional. He arrived right on time...came in - did his diagnosis and was straight up with us. Yep, the WM needs to be replaced. He said “yeah, I could do the repair but I just wouldn’t feel right about taking your money when it would be better to get a new one.” That got my respect. Thanks and if we need another appliance looked at - guess who we are calling. These guys are legit"
